One of the severest windstorms ever to hit Pasadena caused extensive power outages, downed trees and damage to many structures on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning this week. Gusts up to 100 mph hit the area, but the Gamble House sustained only minor damage to two of its screen doors. Public tours were suspended on Thursday.
Westmoreland Place and the surrounding lot were littered with debris, but staff got to work raking leaves and clearing palm fronds and downed branches. By Friday it was business as usual.
We appreciate the concerned emails and phone calls we have received, and wanted to reassure all of those who care for the Gamble House that it is still safe and sound (and open for the holiday season!) With best wishes to all at this time of year, and our sympathies to those who suffered more severe losses.
