Tours of The Gamble House

1-hour Docent Guided Tours

First tour at 12 noon, last tour at 3pm.

Thursday
& Friday
Guided tours every 30 minutes.
Ticket sales start at 10am.
Saturday
Guided tours every 15 minutes.
Ticket sales start at 10am.
Sunday Guided tours every 15 minutes.
Ticket sales start at 11:30am.
Monday
No general tours. Group and special tours by advanced reservation only.
Tuesday Brown-Bag Tuesday mini-tours
Wednesday No general tours. Focus tours by advanced reservation only: Behind the Velvet Ropes, Details & Joinery, and Fire & Light.

Docent guided tours are the only way to see the House interior.

  • Please arrive early, especially on weekends, to avoid disappointment.
  • A limited number of tickets are sold each tour day.
  • Flat shoes are required; slippers will be provided for those in heels.
  • No interior photography allowed.
  • Closed on major holidays: New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.

Reservations for the 2pm Tour

Reservation are accepted for the 2pm docent-guided tour each tour day (Thursday-Sunday). Make reservations at least 1 week in advance. $12.50 per person, prepaid by Visa/MasterCard. Call (626) 793-3334, Monday–Friday 9am–4pm Pacific time.

Focus Tours by Reservation

  • Behind the Velvet Ropes — 2½ hours; $40
    An extended in-depth tour that visits all parts of the house.
  • Details & Joinery — 3 hours; $75
    Led by contemporary woodworker Jim Ipekjian, this in-depth tour is focused on the fine details of wood craftsmanship.
  • Fire & Light — 2 hours; $40
    Glass artist John Hamm leads our newest in-depth tour exploring the exquisite leaded art glass in the House.
  • Arroyo Terrace Walking — 1¼ hour; $15
    Visit our neighborhood, a National Register historic district that is home to 9 Greene & Greene houses as well as the works of other noted architects.

Group Tours by Reservation

Groups of 10 or more require reservations at least 1 month in advance. Group tour hours and fees vary from our regular schedule. $12.50 per person, prepaid by Visa or MasterCard.

Our “Behind the Velvet Ropes tour” invites you to visit parts of the House not usually accessible. You will see exquisite craftsman details up close, and have time to appreciate the ambience of this historic House.

Our Arroyo Terrace Walking Tour takes you through a National Register historic district containing 9 Greene & Greene houses.
