The William Randolph Thorsen House was designed by architects Henry Mather Greene and Charles Sumner Greene in the style of the American Arts and Crafts movement in 1909. The furniture built for the house included the use of exotic hardwoods with spectacular grain patterns. These pieces, constructed in a workshop set up in the basement of the house, are among Greene & Greene’s most elaborate designs. Join Gamble House docents in The Huntington’s Greene & Greene Gallery for a close look at what made this furniture so special.
