Arroyo’s Edge: An Exploration of Architecture with Nature as Inspiration
ARROYO’S EDGE: AN EXPLORATION OF ARCHITECTURE WITH NATURE AS INSPIRATION
Sunday, October 25, 2026 | walk begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Gamble House Bookstore
Join us for a guided two-part walk through the Arroyo Terrace neighborhood, exploring the remarkable architecture, history, and ecology of this unique setting. Led by a Gamble House docent, the first half of the walk will explore the National Register Historic District, home to nine Greene & Greene houses whose location, design, and materials reflect a deep connection to the Arroyo Seco landscape. The walk will then continue into the Arroyo with Paloma Avila of the One Arroyo Foundation, who will highlight the area’s natural beauty and share the story of a recently uncovered architectural feature.
- Approximately 1.5-hour walk begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Gamble House Bookstore.
- Half the walk will include a 0.7-mile loop of paved but at times uneven terrain. The other half will include 0.25-mile loop along an unpaved, uneven path leading down into Brookside Park with an incline on the return path.
- Please bring water, sunscreen, appropriate walking shoes and a hat.
Walktober is made possible by the City of Pasadena Dept. of Transportation, Day One, and Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition.
