CURATOR-LED TOUR OF THE EXHIBITION: Arts and Crafts Metalwork from the West Coast and Beyond
Sunday, October 19, at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets: Friends of the Gamble House Member: $30 | Non-Member: $40
Displays of Arts and Crafts metalwork objects throughout the Gamble House will celebrate the importance of metal as a supporting material in the work of Greene and Greene, along with rarely seen highlights from the Gamble House collection. These are complimented by a selection of works by other craftspeople, brought together by co-curator Bryan Mead, a nationally known expert in Arts and Crafts metalwork. A large collection of copper pots by early 20th century artisan Dirk Van Erp, given to the Gamble House in 2006, will showcase the breadth of the artistry of this Northern California craftsman. This special tour will highlight the displays currently on view and will also discuss Greene and Greene’s use of metal in the architecture and furniture of the Gamble House. Your guides will be Bryan Mead and Jennifer Trotoux, Director of Collections and Interpretation for the Gamble House Conservancy.
