Hike Pledge 2016

HIKING FOR FUN, HIKING FOR FUNDS – PART TWO!

Ted’s Hiking the Final 60 Miles of the John Muir Trail to Benefit the Nancy Marino Docent Training Endowment Fund

Ted Bosley on JMT

Last August Ted embarked on the part one of his quest to hike the John Muir Trail (JMT). Conquering 160 miles along the Sierra Nevada range from Yosemite Valley to Mt. Whitney. His hike was in honor his 25 years on staff at the Gamble House and pledges to the hike fund were directed towards the Gamble House Junior Docent Program.

This year Ted is hiking the last 60 miles of the JMT in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Gamble House with funds being directed to the Nancy Marino Docent Training Endowment (NMDTE). The 50th Anniversary is a celebration of the generous gift agreement by the Gamble family which allowed the Gamble House to open its doors to the public in September of 1966. In the half century since then, The Gamble House has become one of the most beloved premier historic sites in America.

During this time, the Gamble House docents, an extraordinary group of volunteers have dedicated tens-of-thousands of hours towards educating the public about the work of Charles and Henry Greene and the sharing the beauty of the Gamble House with the public. For those Docents, Nancy Marino, has become teacher, leader, role model, icon, friend, mentor, and legend by dedicating 15 years to dispensing her Gamble House wit and wisdom to over 300 Docents-in-training. The Nancy Marino Docent Training Endowment, established in 2012, celebrates Nancy, the docents and the legacy of giving!

We hope you’ll want to help us celebrate Ted’s hike, Nancy’s dedication and the generosity of the Gamble Family. Give Today!
