Arturo Bandini house, Pasadena, 1903 (demolished) – The Greenes designed this house in a U-shape, with three sides of the house facing a central courtyard. Although the plan is modeled after the traditional California rancho style, the courtyard posts are constructed with Japanese techniques.
Jennie A. Reeve house, Long Beach, 1903-04 – Classic elements of the Greene and Greene style emerge in the Reeve house. The eaves project far beyond the wall, the exterior is shingled, and the structure’s simplicity resembles elements of Japanese construction. The massive stone chimney services three fireplaces, which were central to the home’s design.
