BIRD SIT AT THE GAMBLE HOUSE

Saturday, April 12 and May 10, 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Free, drop-in event. No reservations required.

Join the Pasadena Audubon Society at the Gamble House for a Bird Sit led by PAS Board Member Deb Tammearu. Learn to identify the birds that surround you as you enjoy the beautiful grounds and architecture of the Gamble House.
The Bird Sit is approximately 1.5-hours and begins at 8:00 a.m. under the big oak on the rear lawn. Please bring water, sunscreen, a lawn chair or blanket and a hat. Binoculars are encouraged, and we’ll have some to loan out. The Pasadena Audubon Society will provide free pamphlets on birding, the organization and how to identify local birds during the event. Individuals with all abilities welcome. Please call (626) 793-7406 for information about accessibility.

When we heard the sad news that PAS lost their previous Cantina at the Eaton Canyon Nature Center during the fires, we didn’t hesitate to offer our garden as the Cantina’s new home.

The Cantina will give hummingbirds access to food year-round but especially during fall and spring migration. Hummingbirds must search for food in new areas due to the Eaton Fire and shifts in bloom cycles due to climate change. One particular sub-species, the Rufous Hummingbird, is being forced to leave its higher altitudes in the mountains to search for food. We hope this Cantina will keep the Rufous Hummingbird and all the other hummingbird species from traveling great distances and being forced to change their migration patterns.
