Visitor information AND Ticketing
The Gamble House and Bookstore are open Tuesdays, and Thursdays-Sundays. We are closed on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Tours of the Gamble House are guided, with the exception of occasional self-guided touring days that are listed under Events. Tour times vary; please check tour availability below. Advance ticketing recommended. Walk-up tickets are sold in the Bookstore based on availability. The Bookstore is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on touring days.
Visitors are welcome to explore the exterior of the house and gardens at their leisure.

Parking: Free parking is available on Westmoreland Place in labeled spaces, directly in front of the house. Additional parking is available on Orange Grove Boulevard and West Walnut Street. On weekends, you may park in adjacent spaces designated for Westmoreland Academy. Please do not park in the parking lots to the north or south of the Gamble House or on Arroyo Terrace. Please read street signs for any parking restrictions.

Tour Guidelines
The following are not allowed inside the Gamble House:
- Food or beverages with the exception of water in a bottle with a cap.
- Bags, purses, and backpacks larger than 12” h x 14” w x 5” d.
- Strollers or baby-carrier backpacks (unless convertible to the front).
- Umbrellas (exterior storage area is available).
- Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted on tours, but we welcome service dogs and ponies.
To ensure the safety of the collection and to provide a pleasant touring experience for all guests, we ask that you adhere to the following policies:
- Please silence all mobile devices prior to beginning your tour.
- Smoking or other use of tobacco products (including, but not limited to, cigarettes, pipes, cigars, snuff, or chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaporized devices) is prohibited in any part of the Gamble House interior, exterior terraces, or grounds.
- Unless instructed to do so by your docent, do not touch wood, glass or decorative objects inside the Gamble House. Please do not lean on walls, furniture or counters.
- Please wear broad-heeled (at least 2” wide at base) shoes or flats. Tour “booties” will be provided to guests who do not have compliant footwear.
- Still photography is permitted, for non-commercial use only. No flash photography is allowed. Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are not permitted. If you have questions about commercial filming and photography, or occasion photography, click here.
- The operation or use of any drones, unmanned aircraft/flying systems, and remote-controlled or radio-controlled flying machines of all types, shapes, and sizes at any time in the vicinity of or on the Gamble House property is prohibited.
- Visitors to the Gamble House may be photographed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded. By visiting, you grant permission to use photographs and/or audio-visual recordings in which you appear for archival, documentary, publicity, advertising, or other purposes.

Featured Tours
One-Hour Docent-Guided Tour
A 1-hour guided exploration of the house and its history through rooms lined with rare woods, featuring handcrafted details, fixtures, and furnishings designed by the architects and unique to the house.
Behind the Velvet Ropes
A 2-1/2 hour docent-led tour where guests, with flashlight in hand, examine exquisite craftsmanship at close quarters and enter spaces not seen on the standard tour.
Fire & Light
Glass artist John Hamm leads this 2-hour tour where he examines the Greene’s vocabulary of design and the celebrated leaded art glass in the house.
Greene & Greene Neighborhood Walking Tour
A 1-1/2 hour guided walk around the historic Arroyo Terrace neighborhood, a National Register historic district that’s home to nine Greene & Greene houses. This tour does not have interior access to any homes on the tour route.
Gardens & Gables
A 1-hour guided tour exploring the history and context of the gardens and exterior of The Gamble House. This is an exterior only tour.
One-Hour Docent-Guided Masked Tour
A 1-hour guided exploration of the house and its history through rooms lined with rare woods, featuring handcrafted details, fixtures, and furnishings designed by the architects and unique to the house.
Details & Joinery
A 3-hour tour from a craftsman’s point of view, master cabinetmaker Jim Ipekjian explores the details that reveal how the house was crafted.
Family Tours
This 45-minute tour is meant to introduce the house to children and their caregivers. Led by Pathway Docents (8th and 9th graders), all three levels of the house are explored as they ask questions and engage children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

PRIVATE, GROUP & SCHOOL TOURING
Pre-scheduled, private 1-hour tour: $240.00 for up to 12 guests.
1-Hour group tours for 12 to 40 guests can be scheduled on select mornings or late afternoons on Tuesdays, or Thursdays-Sundays, for $20.00 per person.

Virtual TOUR

ACCESSIBILITY
The Gamble House welcomes guests with special accessibility needs. Please contact our Tour and Education Manager at (626) 793-7419 or email jenniferm@gamblehouse.org prior to the day of your visit so that we can accommodate you as fully as possible. Persons providing direct assistance to paying guests with accessibility needs will not be charged admission.

Wheelchair Access:
There is limited first floor access with the use of a wheelchair (manual only) stair lift device operated by Gamble House staff. Please note, the lift device cannot accommodate all manual wheelchairs. We are not able to accommodate electric wheelchairs. Please contact us in advance of your visit so that we can accommodate you as fully as possible.
Walkers:
Walkers with rubber bottoms are permitted. All walkers will be inspected to ensure they do not pose a potential hazard to the historic rugs and floors. Please note: The front entrance of the Gamble House requires the use of stairs. The second floor is accessible via a flight of 18 stairs. The attic is accessible via a flight of 17 stairs.
Deafness or Hearing Loss:
Typed tour scripts, in English, with detailed descriptions are available upon request.
Blind or Low Vision:
Large print and braille materials, as well as tactile objects are available. Please ask for these materials when you check in for your tour.
- Certified service dogs or ponies are permitted on tours.
- If a guest who is blind or has low vision wishes to bring someone to assist them on the tour, the person providing assistance will not be charged admission.
Neurodivergent Visitors:
With advance notice, we are pleased to assemble a touring kit with tactile objects and visual aids. Please contact the Tour and Education Manager at jenniferm@gamblehouse.org or 626-793-7419 for more details.
Language Accessibility:
