Pasadena, California

The Greenes developed two residential schemes for John H. Poole
to be located in the Mira Vista development on the west bank
of the Arroyo Seco. This development was a subdivision of the
Armour Estate and was bordered by Mira Vista terrace, Linda
Vista Avenue and San Rafael Heights. The broadside advertised
"commanding views unsurpassed by any part of Southern California,"
with all the modern urban necessities-sewer, water, telephone,
light, gas-completed. There was a quarter million gallon reservoir
adjacent to the lots. The plan shows 19 plots of land in one
large elliptical shape with a curving drive winding its way
through the property. There was one large round plot right at
the entrance. Several plots are marked "sold" and
others indicate the outline of where a house might be located.
The largest, #3 at the entrance, is marked sold and labeled
"$25,000."
Neither of the two designs for Poole were executed, although
the footings for the second scheme were reportedly begun. Poole
later purchased a 1916 English-style house designed by another
architect in the same neighborhood.
