Judge Charles K. Silent Houses Glendora, California 1908 Greene & Greene were at their rustic-craftsman finest in designing this charming one-level ranch house that was essentially two structures connected to create a compound on the rural site. The interior elevations show great attention to detail, and it is unfortunate that this well conceived project was never executed. The plan shows an elevated platform with two sets of stairs. A large living room is connected to a large dining room and kitchen, porch, and pantry via a broad covered terrace. The centerpiece of the living room is a massive stone fireplace that has on the exterior of the building a notable sculptural presence. There is another, smaller, stone fireplace in the dining room. The interior and exterior were constructed of timber, giving the building a rustic, western look. The building is only one story. No sleeping quarters are shown on the drawings.
