Mrs. Kate A. White House
South Pasadena, California
1904

This was the first house designed by the Greenes to be built by Peter Hall, acting as general contractor. Peter Hall and his brother, John, would later go on to build the Greenes’ most famous houses and furnishings. The Kate White house is a modest bungalow, whose floor plan is modeled after that of the Edith Claypole house of 1903. Its Arroyo stone foundation, timber porch and deep eaves show a near-pure craftsman aesthetic.
